Vale Frank Costa. Anam Cara House Geelong Patron.

This week Anam Cara House Geelong has been filled with sadness as we learnt of the death of our Patron, Frank Costa AO. Frank was there in the beginning and a driving force since the inception of Anam Cara House Geelong, it would be fair to say that without Frank’s support Anam Cara House Geelong would not be where it is today.

The new Anam Cara House Geelong currently under construction at Deakin University, Waurn Ponds sat very close to his heart; it is sad that he will not physically witness the completion of the vision he helped become a reality. We can be thankful that he knew the ground works had commenced and the concrete pour started, on what will soon be Geelong’s new community hospice.

All of us at Anam Cara House Geelong, the Board, staff and volunteers are eternally grateful to Frank for his unwavering support and generosity of spirit and time.  We will miss him and his huge presence in the Anam Cara House Geelong community, as will Geelong, surrounding areas and beyond.

Our thoughts are with his beloved wife Shirley, his girls and grandchildren & great grandchildren. May knowing how loved Frank was by others give everyone some solace at this sad time.

Vale Frank Costa.

A message from our Board Chair, Diana Taylor.

“Vale Frank Costa AO.

On behalf of our entire Anam Cara House Geelong Community, we extend our deepest sympathies to Shirley Costa and the entire Costa family on the passing of our dear Patron, Frank Costa AO. Frank’s vision for a home away from home, hospice care service for his Community was one of the powerful drivers for Anam Cara House Geelong’s inception in 2007.

In more recent years, the constant strength and resolve that Frank has brought to the New Anam Cara House Geelong Project, gave us all the courage to push forward with this visionary plan for the people of Geelong.

Frank will be dearly missed by us all, but his presence and influence will continue to guide us in the daily delivery of our services and the building of our New Anam Cara House Geelong at Deakin University, Waurn Ponds.”

A message from our Ambassador, Mr Bob Gartland.

Frank Costa’s legacy in the Geelong Region and beyond is, and will be, profound.

His footprints can be seen everywhere… wherever there is good in people, that is where you will find Frank Costa, and where he has been in his values driven life. Our children and our grandchildren, will also see the benefit of what Frank in his selflessness, has laid out for the generations to come.

Words seem inadequate when describing who Frank is, and what he has done for this region and its people.

Caring, loving, passionate Frank… a man for the people. Geelong’s people.
